Carl Davies netted a superb hat-trick as Woodley Town moved into the top six of Hellenic One (East) with a 6-1 hammering of Kintbury Rangers.
IN-FORM Woodley Town travelled to Kintbury Rangers looking to make it three league wins in a row - and they succeeded in some style.
Last year's Reading League top scorer Carl Davies was the star of the show, rediscovering his scoring touch to fire home a hat-trick and set up a 6-1 success which moved his side into the top six in Hellenic One (East).
Kintbury started brightly and had the first clearcut chance. Oneal Garnes appeared to be fouled when challenging for the ball but play went on and Craig Hiscock had to intervene on the line when it looked like Kintbury were certain to score.
After a scratchy opening, Woodley got into a good rhythm and with Jamie Fairchild restored to a forward role, he began to link the play nicely and pose a threat.
And he duly opened the scoring a quarter of an hour in with a left foot strike at the near post.
Woodley were playing some excellent football on a tricky surface, with Chris Hatton a driving force in midfield.
Dan Jewell hit a fierce volley which was saved smartly by Kane Roberts, but the visitors failed to turn all their pressure into goals and Kintbury equalised on the break through Paul Thomas five minutes before the interval.
It was all square at half-time but Woodley came out of the blocks quickly at the start of the second period and a stunning 15 minute spell of flowing football produced five goals.
Hatton re-established Woodley's lead when he received a cutback from Davies and fired through Roberts' legs four minutes after half-time.
And it was 3-1 six minutes later when Fairchild calmly squared the ball to Davies to tap home. Two minutes later Davies doubled his tally when he raced onto Luke Williams' through ball to slot home with ease.
Town continued to dominate and Williams himself made it 5-1 when slotted the ball home at the far post just past the hour mark to register his 10th of the season.
And Woodley rounded off a memorable spell three minutes later when Hatton clipped in a delightful cross for Davies to complete his hat-trick.
With Town leading 6-1 with 25 minutes remaining, they eased off the gas although sub Tom Williams almost made it a magnificent seven when his shot hit the near post and rolled agonisingly across the line.
Overall it was another impressive victory for Woodley and they now sit sixth in the league before the visit of third-placed Henley Town on Saturday.
