READING Town extended their unbeaten run in the league to 11 games, with a good away win over a resilient Malmesbury Victoria last weekend.
Two goals at either end of a closely contested match, were enough to secure the three points for Town who have now won eight of their opening 11 fixtures.
Three minutes into the game Michael Buck struck for the visitors, the home team failing to reply until five minutes before the break when they were awarded a penalty. Phil Corcoran stepped up, but only managed to hit the post.
And with almost the last kick of the game Reading doubled the lead, a 20 yard shot from Danny Williamson taking a wicked deflection to put it past Malmesbury's helpless keeper Kurtis Sharkey.
And Reading continued their good form on Tuesday night in the Floodlit Cup against Shrivenham going through on penalties, after a goalless 90 minutes and extra time, to run out eventual 3-1 winners.
Town have an excellent chance to extend their unbeaten run to 13 as they host struggling duo Bicester Town (Saturday) and Carterton (Tuesday) next week.
A second half comeback from struggling Penn & Tylers Green was not enough to see off a good team performance from Woodley Town as the league newboys secured a 3-2 win.
Goals from Craig Hiscock and Luke Williams before the break gave Penn a mountain to climb in tricky conditions.
Williams hassled Penn's defence all afternoon, creating the opener with a cross from the byline that Hiscock steered calmly beyond Penn's goalkeeper, John Harding.
Williams then converted himself on 35 minutes, outpacing the full back and lifting the ball over Harding to double the lead.
After the break the home side did have some joy, defender Dean Munday slotting home from close range.
The respite was brief, however, as 20 seconds later the visitors regained their two goal lead, last season's top scorer Carl Davies lobbing the outstretched Harding.
With just five minutes to play Penn's Roly Knight decreased the deficit to a single goal, shooting past Woodley keeper Oneal Garnes.
Woodley remained unflustered, however, and played out the final five minutes to record their fourth victory of the season.
Woodley will be looking to continue their improved recent form when they host Farnborough Res on Saturday.
