WOODLEY Town face a tricky start to their first ever Hellenic League campaign on Saturday.

Last year's Reading Senior Division winners travel to near-neighbours Wokingham & Emmbrook as they look to make an instant impact in Division One (East).

And they will face a stiff task, as the Satsumas got their season underway in style on Tuesday night with a 5-0 thrashing of Penn & Tylers Green.

It is the first in a daunting run of six straight away games that will welcome Woodley into the league.

However, Town should be full of confidence for the task that lies ahead of them after a morale-boosting pre-season.

That has seen them put together a run of four wins in five games including impressive successes against Hellenic Premier pair Ascot United (4-2) and Marlow United (2-1).

Last year's Reading League golden boot winner Carl Davies should be key to Woodley's hopes and the front man has hit the ground running notching seven times in the five fixtures.

And if he can continue his scoring touch into the competitive action, Cyril Fairchild's men may be able to prove themselves the equal of other former Reading League sides, such as Marlow, Ascot and Newbury, and establish themselves towards the business end of the table.
