READING Town enjoyed the perfect start to their Hellenic Premier Division campaign on Tuesday as they smashed six past Hook Norton without reply.
Rampant Town hit their stride from the word go at Scours Lane, James Clark getting them off the mark for the season after just 10 minutes.
Despite their dominance it took half an hour for the second to arrive, Gordon Ritchie tapping home from close range five minutes before the interval.
Last season's top scorer Graham Lewis opened his account for the new campaign three minutes into the second half, before Ritchie added his second on 55 minutes to make it 4-0.
It was a high five just after the hour mark when Aaron Parfitt converted from the spot after a foul on Lewis, and just 10 minutes later he wasted a glorious opportunity for a sixth when he saw another penalty saved.
So it was left to Lewis to complete the rout five minutes from time and complete a fine night's work from Collin Millard's men.
The opening night win should give the Scours Lane side plenty of reason for confidence ahead of this weekend's FA Cup extra preliminary round clash against Melksham Town (3pm ko).
