WOODLEY United remain in Premier Division relegation trouble after they suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Tuffley Rovers on Thursday.

The hosts started brightly and a hooked Haydon Richardson effort went wide of Kane Winman’s left post before Sam Guze blazed over from distance.

It was Woodley’s Alex Reed who was forced into the first save of the match on 25 minutes, though, brilliantly keeping out Shayne Bradley's header.

United had the half’s final two chances, howerver, as Danny Horscroft’s free-kick went narrowly over before Richardson volleyed over from 18 yards.

The second half began in the worst possible way for Woodley when Bradley prodded into the right corner from just inside the box.

More pressure from the visitors followed and Bradley shot into the side netting from the left while a powerful shot from the right was well held by Reed.

United got back on top, however, and Owen Davies headed wide a Guze cross before forcing Winman into a save, while Richardson sliced wide from 25 yards and had a low drive from the left narrowly miss to the right.

The final chance for the hosts fell to Horscroft, who forced Winman to save at his near post after a Greg Beckett cross from the right, but Tuffley sealed the win through a counter-attack in added time.

A cross-field ball found Brett James who fired a low shot past Reed into the left corner.
