SENIOR Division side Woodley Wanderers won 4-3 at Premier Division strugglers AFC Burghfield in their Ted Cambridge Cup Group 2 game.

Reading Irish closed the gap on unbeaten leaders Emmer Green to one point thanks to a walk-over courtesy of bottom club Ghana Stars.

Athletico Forest missed a chance to close the gap on Premier Division leaders Eldon Celtic when they suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at 116 Exiles, who in the process were securing only their third league win in 14 games. But they remain in relegation trouble, having played several more games than the two sides below them, Mortimer and AFC Burghfield.

Mortimer were beaten 2-0 at Tilehurst YM, who moved into second place, a point behind Eldon but having played four more games.

Reading United stay stop of Division 1 despite slipping to a 3-2 home defeat at the hands of title rivals AFC Burghfield Reserves.

Second-placed The Bull were also beaten, losing 4-0 at home to the fourth club, Woodley Wanderers Reserves.

United lead the table with 35 points from 16 games, followed by The Bull with 32 points from 15 matches, Burghfield 32 from 14 and Woodley Wanderers 28 from 14.

WS Hobnob won 3-1 away to Pangbourne & Basildon Barbarians in a mid-table encounter. Bottom club Henley Town lost 3-1 away to Tilehurst Club Reserves in the semi-finals of the Industrial Cup.

In Division 2, Sportsman extended their unbeaten record to 11 games by defeating Southbank 5-1, while second-placed Coley Park handed out a 16-1 thrashing to bottom club 116 Exiles Reserves and Brimpton Rangers defeated Forest 5-1.

Loxwood Park Rangers moved up to fourth following a 3-2 victory over Whitley Athletic, going above Wokingham & Emmbrook who were held to a 2-2 draw by Park Villa.

Loxwood saw off a late fight back to make it three victories in a row. Goals from Tom Slade (2) and man of the match Luke Giles put Loxwood in control before two replies in the last 15 minutes made life interesting.

Division 3 leaders Englefield are now unbeaten in 16 games after beating Southcote Colts by a 5-1 margin.

They are now 12 points clear of Twyford Comets, who could only draw 0-0 with ninth-placed Delta Vigo.

Barton Rovers squeezed home against Mortimer by the odd goal in five, while Thames Athletic received a walkover against bottom club Toga Sports.

Division 4’s top two, South Reading and Theale, drew 1-1 and so both remain unbeaten with 15 games played. South head the placings with 41 points, two more than their title rivals.

Third-placed Six Bells, seven points adrift of Theale with a game in hand, triumphed 4-0 against The Bugle, while Tilehurst Club A, in fourth, are unbeaten in 12 games following their 4-1 success at home to Sanctuary Strikers.

Calcot Royals won 4-3 away to Shinfield Rangers to move up to 10th in the table.
