WOODLEY United remain third-bottom of the Hellenic League Premier Division after they were beaten 2-0 at Brimscombe & Thrupp.

The damage was done early on as Sam Blackie’s second-minute strike, followed by a John Evans effort 20 minutes later, settled the issue.

Woodley have now taken just three points from their last 13 games, and things get no easier when they travel to in-form Binfield tomorrow evening (7.45pm).

In the Thames Valley League Premier Division, fourth-bottom Woodley United Royals slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Mortimer, Josh Beisly and James Suarez doing the damage for the home side.

There was more success for Woodley United Ladies as they thrashed Barton Rovers 6-1 to reach the semi finals of the Southern Region Women’s League Challenge Cup.

United took the lead in the 23rd minute when Tash Master’s pass found May Hamblin who made no mistake.

The same player doubled her account and put Woodley 2-0 up at the break when she controlled a ball from Maddie Sawyer before finishing with less than two minutes of the opening period remaining.

Hamblin blotted her copybook after giving away a penalty for handball, Amelia Sergent clinically reducing the deficit from the spot.

However, that was as good as it got for Barton, who went 3-1 down when the prolific Rosie Page-Smith netted from a Faye Ward set-up.

An own goal extended the lead before Hamblin completed a brilliant hat-trick, and Woodley rounded off the rout when Mollie Haines scored late on.
