HIGHMOOR Ibis sank to the foot of the Hellenic League Premier Division after crashing 6-0 to Thatcham Town on a heavy surface at Rivermoor Stadium on Monday night.

Their former skipper, Harrison Bayley, was among the scorers, while there was a hat-trick for Liam Ferdinand, who had joined the high-flying Kingfishers last week from Bracknell Town.

And this result saw Thatcham leap-frog Bracknell into second place in the table.

After home keeper Aaron Watkins had brilliantly turned aside Shane Cooper-Clark’s penalty, Ferdinand opened the scoring in the 25th minute and two minutes later he scored again with a header.

Bayley notched the third goal in stoppage time at the end of the first half -and he was then replaced for the second half.

Cooper-Clark extended his side’s lead and a fine solo effort saw Ferdinand complete his hat-trick just before the hour mark.

Watkins pulled off several fine saves to keep the score down, but was unable to stop skipper Tom Melledew notching Thatcham’s sixth goal in stoppage time.

With half their league fixtures completed, Highmoor drop to last place as they have a slightly inferior goal difference to Ascot United and Fairford Town, all sides having 11 points.

And Highmoor – whose former manager Marcus Richardson has joined league rivals Flackwell Heath – travel to Fairford for their next game, on Saturday, December 2.
