WOODLEY United had to settle for a point despite going in front in their 1-1 draw at Burnham on Tuesday night.

The opening half proved an open and end-to-end affair, with chances coming at both ends, but it was the Kestrels – buoyed by their first ever Hellenic League Premier Division win against Binfield three days before – who went in front on the stroke of half time.

Jake Nicholls got his first of the season in the 43rd minute, tapping home after Sam Bunting could only parry a Danny Horscroft effort.

As conditions got worse in the second period, Josh Drew tested Bunting from 25 yards, but Burnham equalised on 53 minutes when Aaron Morgan netted from the left side of the box.

The hosts now had United on the backfoot and George Dawson-Clark hit the right post from 20 yards, although at the other end Drew hit the right post from a tight angle inside the box.

United had their best spell of the game half way through the half as and Drew had a well-hit strike beaten out at the near post.

Then Horscroft saw his cross from the byline clip off a Burnham defender, loop over Bunting and roll across the goal line, but Woodley could not snatch a winner.
