WOODLEY United go into their first ever FA Cup game at home to Tuffley Rovers on Saturday (3pm) on the back of a highly-encouraging 0-0 draw at perennial title contenders Flackwell Heath on Tuesday evening.

The Heathens shaded the opening 20 minutes although clear-cut chances were at a premium, and it took until 10 minutes before the break for Woodley to have their first real opportunity, Danny Horscroft picking out Nathanial Robinson with a fantastic ball before he tested David Lyons from 20 yards.

Flackwell then hit the bar and had a goal ruled out for off-side, but the sides went into the break level.

Within a minute of the restart Robinson saw a shot cleared off the line, while at the other end Usman Lalustani dragged a shot wide from 25 yards.

Oakley and Horscroft once again combined as Woodley started to dominate and the former saw his shot blocked, with the ball falling invitingly to Robinson who saw his shot go agonisingly wide.

The nearest Flackwell got to scoring since the restart was when a fierce shot by Nathan Minhas was gathered by Reed at the second attempt.

With the game in its final stages and the hosts pushing men forward, United had a golden chance to pick up all three points on the break when man-of-the-match Michael Porter fed substitute Carl Prestidge down the left; squaring to Oakley the Woodley striker missed to the left with just Lyons to beat.

Fellow replacement Owen Davies had a shot blocked and seconds later the referee blew for full time, signalling a great result and performance from the Kestrels.

The result was a massive confidence-booster for Woodley ahead of the club's first-ever FA Cup this Saturday.

Michael Herbert's men host Tuffley Rovers at the Rivermoor Stadium in Scours Lane in an extra preliminary round tie (3pm), and they are looking for the local community to show their support.

Woodley will be aiming to make home advantage count against fellow Hellenic Premier side Tuffley, with the winners facing a trip to either Leighton Town or Oxhey Jets on August 19.
