READING Irish’s hopes of taking the Senior Division title race to the wire came to an end when they were held to a 1-1 draw by hosts Emmer Green, writes Dave Wright.

This left them four points behind Dee Road Rangers with a game to play against Richfield Rovers this Sunday, while the champions visit Emmer Green a week later.

Woodley Wanderers boosted their hopes of finishing runners-up in the Premier Division following their 3-2 win away to Richfield Rovers Reserves.

Wanderers are now up to second place, one point above Rovers.

While Rovers play Purley on Sunday, Wanderers must wait to see what the league decide about their abandoned match with Ghana Stars on March 26.

Division One champions Le Galaxy have completed their league fixtures with an unbeaten record – 15 wins and three draws – after beating runners-up Eldon Celtic 2-1 last Thursday.

Celtic suffered a similar defeat on Sunday, this time to the third-placed club, 116 Exiles.

There were plenty of goals at Aldermaston, where AFC Burghfield went down 5-4 to Polonia Reading.

In Division Two, Charvil Rangers moved six points clear of Pangbourne & Basildon Barbarians with two games left to play after receiving a walk-over courtesy of Wokingham & Emmbrook.

Imaan moved up a place to ninth after winning 3-2 at WS Hobnob, while a midweek game saw third-placed AFC Burghfield Reserves edge home against the side immediately below them, Falcon, 1-0.

Arborfield were also awarded a walk-over in their scheduled fixture with Caversham AFC.

Henley Town (pictured) moved within three points of leaders Reading United in Division Three East, but with a far inferior goal difference, when winning 3-0 away to Berkshire Rovers in a midweek game.

Rovers did better on Sunday, holding third-placed Park Villa to a 1-1 draw.

It was an enjoyable Easter Day for Coley Park, as they trounced 116 Exiles Reserves 8-3 to raise their hopes of a top-three finish.

Shinfield Rangers have yet to win a Division Four East game this season, but gave a good account of themselves when losing 4-3 to fourth-placed Six Bells.

In the only Division Four West game to be played over the bank holiday weekend, runners-up AFC Pangbourne Reserves defeated second from bottom in the league Burghfield Reserves 4-0.
