STRUGGLING Woodley United slipped to a sixth game without a win as they were thumped 5-1 at Athletico Forest in Division One, writes Richard Ashton.

The visitors suffered an early blow when keeper Stephen Brearley pulled up after 10 minutes with a hamstring problem and was forced to withdraw.

Stand-in Chris Hayman gallantly deputised, but was soon tested with a cross that was bundled into the net by a vibrant Forest.

Athletico continued to pile pressure on the Woodley goal and were rewarded with two further goals just before half-time.

Woodley were caught on the break early in the second half to fall 4-0 down, although the deficit was narrowed on 75 minutes when skipper Dan Blatchford’s (pictured) free-kick was looped over the defensive wall to give the keeper no chance in the top left-hand corner.

However, Athletico were to have the final say, scoring in the closing stages to complete the rout.
