WOODLEY United rescued a Reading & District League Division One point as a late brace from man-of-the-match Rob Timbers earned them a 3-3 draw at Spencers Wood, writes Richard Ashton.

The hosts grabbed an early lead when Woodley failed to clear their lines for a simple goal from close range, only for United to get back on terms when a corner from skipper Dan Blatchford was met by Ricky Beneventu who fired the ball high into the Spencers Wood net in the 30th minute.

Woodley defended poorly early in the second half and were punished by two quick goals, and things looked irreparable when Ben Read received his marching orders on 65 minutes for a second yellow card.

The visitors did not give in, however, and were rewarded with two fine goals from Timbers. The first was an excellent strike wide of the diving keeper and the second a header into the top corner of the net following a free-kick.
