TILEHURST YM’s superb run in the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup came to an abrupt end at the quarter final stage, the hosts falling to a 6-1 reverse to an impressive FC Fernhill, writes Richard Ashton.

The Bracknell-based visitors went 2-0 up inside the opening 10 minutes, and despite Craig Palmer reducing the arrears on the half hour, Fernhill moved up a gear and progressed with ease.

Reading Irish were also knocked out – falling to a Riccardo Cannon goal in their 1-0 defeat to Real Milan – and Dee Road Rangers were eliminated 4-2 at Aylesbury Flooring in a game which was halted a minute early by the referee.

Southcote Colts reached the last eight of the Junior Trophy with a thrilling 4-3 victory at FC Clewer, but AFC Pangbourne Reserves were beaten 3-2 at Crowthorne Inn.

In the Senior Division, basement boys Kidmore End/The Mod lost their ninth game from nine in a 5-0 home defeat to Richfield Rovers, while second-bottom Burghfield were dismantled 8-2 by Reading YMCA.

Kidmore End/The Mod Reserves moved top of the Premier Division after they thrashed lowly Ghana Stars 7-2, while former leaders Barton Rovers conceded their game at AFC Pangbourne. Purley won 4-0 at winless The County.

Division One basement dwellers S.C. United picked up their first victory of the season at the ninth attempt as they overcame second-bottom Spencers Wood 3-2, moving level on points with the beaten side.

AFC Burghfield eased past 116 Exiles 5-2 in their mid-table meeting.

Unbeaten Division Two table-toppers Pangbourne & Basildon Barbarians continued their relentless march towards the title with a 5-0 demolition of Arborfield, while Charvil Rangers inflicted the same result on WS Hobnob.

In Division Three East, FC Forest shocked Coley Park 4-1.

AFC Basildon remain top of Division Three West following their 3-1 victory against Whitley Athletic, while Tilehurst Titans drew 1-1 with Southbank.

Twyford Comets moved to within a point of Division Four East pacesetters AFC Lowfield Green – albeit having played a game more – following their 3-0 cruise against South Reading.

Caversham United beat Six Bells 3-1 and Borussia Teeth drew 3-3 with Delta Vigo.

Second-placed Barton Rovers Reserves remain well in the hunt for the Division Four West title, although they were made to battle hard before securing a 1-0 victory at lowly The Bugle.
