ROCK bottom Hurst crashed to a 16th Premier Division defeat in 17 games as a stunning opening salvo from Woodcote Stoke Row secured a 4-1 cruise, writes Richard Ashton.

Andy Bullett scored twice in the opening 12 minutes and further goals before the half hour from Frank Dillon and Michael Butcher ensured a comfortable success for Ross Weatherstone’s men.

Alex Seymour, Marvin Hinds and Jordan Jawandha got the goals as Taplow United stunned Cookham Dean in their derby, while Berks County and Highmoor Ibis Reserves shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw.

In Division One, Frilsham & Yattendon crushed basement boys AFC Corinthians 5-0, while in Division Two, Sean McDowell’s goal for Taplow United Reserves was merely a consolation as they were thumped 4-1 by Wargrave.

Woodley United A downed Unity Reserves 6-3 in an entertaining Division Three clash, and a last-minute Johnnie Palmer-Smith strike earned Maidenhead Town Reserves a 2-2 draw at Ashridge Park. Matt Clements scored the other goal for the visitors.

Newbury Reserves’ promotion hopes suffered a blow as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Brimpton.

In Division Four, unbeaten table-toppers South Reading cruised past Wargrave Reserves 5-1, while Charlie Scope scored for Hurst A in their 2-2 draw against second-placed Twyford & Ruscombe.

Rob Knight grabbed the winner for The Hop Leaf in their 2-1 success at Harchester Hawks Reserves, Dan Lockwood’s injury-time strike only a consolation for the hosts.

James Gregory scored for Braybrooke but a Richard Cumner goal gave Berks County Rovers a point in a 1-1 draw, and Thomas Buckle, Oliver Eaves and Peter Gajdus netted for Taplow United A in their 3-2 victory at Woodley United B.

Mortimer advanced in the Reading Senior Cup with a superb 4-2 victory at home to Newbury.

Gareth Davies gave the hosts a 1-0 half-time lead, and Mortimer doubled their advantage through Doug Groves just before the hour mark.

A quick-fire Leroy Clarke double levelled matters, but the Villagers regrouped and further goals from Davies and Chris Ferdinand put them into the second round.

Tyla Lynch netted four times and Courtney Lawrence grabbed a hat-trick as Highmoor Under 21s thrashed Rotherfield United Reserves 7-2, and a Richard Johnson double plus goals from Nicholas Payne and David Powell helped Finchampstead Reserves brush aside Hurst Reserves 4-1.
