SECOND-PLACED Woodley United were surprisingly beaten 3-1 at home by Division One East strugglers Didcot Town Reserves.

Emmanuel Hammond opened the scoring for the visitors when he headed in a ninth-minute corner, and things got worse for Woodley when Josh Drew was sent off early in the second half.

Charlie Noble doubled the Didcot lead on 58 minutes, but a Greg Beckett strike cut the deficit shortly after.

Town were reduced to 10 men when Kieran Collins was sent off, but Woodley’s Joe Painter then became the third player to be dismissed and Noble’s penalty sealed the win.

Woodley United travel to Penn & Tylers Green for a top-of-the-table showdown on Saturday (noon).

  • HIGHMOOR Ibis slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Hellenic League Premier Division title contenders Flackwell Heath.

Adam Dickens gave the hosts the lead before Yashwa Romeo equalised, but a Dan Bayliss goal gave the Heathens the win.

Highmoor Ibis host second-placed Bracknell Town on Saturday (3pm).

  • AFC Aldermaston climbed to third in the Division One East table with an impressive 4-0 victory at Wantage Town Reserves.

The visitors started brightly but suffered a double injury blow late in the first half as goalkeeper Matt Desay was forced off with a head injury and Tranell Richardson dislocated his shoulder for the second time this season.

However the Atom Men took the lead shortly before the break as Craig Masterson found the bottom corner, and they doubled their lead before the interval when Karl Hanks hit the target with a stunning 25-yard free-kick.

Aldermaston put the game beyond doubt when Masterton finished wonderfully for the third and with 10 minutes to go, a cross by Lee Wheeler found youngster Jake Thain – who put in a man of the match performance – to side-foot home and make it 4-0.
