The Pound Lane side are now unbeaten in four games and were aided by superb displays from captain Ollie Clayson and all-rounder Ross Mcadam on Saturday.

The duo dominated proceedings after Clayson elected to bat, with the skipper leading from the front with an impressive 88.

However his knock was trumped by Mcadam - who has played for Berkshire at age group level and for Reading CC - as the youngster tore the Burnham attack to pieces in a magnificent 116.

With Zahid Mohammed also chipping in with 35, Sonning were able to declare on a formidable 270-4 from just 49 overs.

The visitors were never in contention in reply, struggling to score runs against a disciplined Sonning effort with the ball.

Mohammed (2-34 from 16 overs) and Zubair Khan (2-32 off 15) kept the squeeze on throughout the innings, meaning Burnham could only reach 156-6 in 51 overs.

Sonning picked up 13 points to stay second bottom, but have shown a significant improvement since they lost three and suffered three cancellations in their opening six games.

Sonning 2nds remain winless in Division 4b after they slipped to a four wicket defeat at Slough 3rds.

The hosts won the toss and made early inroads after asking Sonning to bat. Jameel Ahamad (28) and Imran Mohammed (20) were the only players to make any form of significant contribution as their side was bundled out for a mere 107 in 37 overs.

Sonning showed some fight in trying to defend the runs and Australian star Louis Ellery produced an excellent spell of 4-30 to keep his side in with a hunt.

However Slough eventually passed their target in the 26th over, with Kevin Smith picking up the other two wickets to fall.
