READING are still not assured of survival in Home Counties Division Two West after their match against Slough was abandoned for the second time this season.
Only 34.3 overs were played when the two clubs met in June and on this occasion the rain meant that just 31 overs could be bowled.
Whereas Reading were struggling at 88-5 when the first fixture was called off, Slough were 100-2 when the game at Sonning Lane was abandoned.
Luke Beaven gave Reading early hope by bowling Omar Jamshad for just two and Sufian Munir was then run out with the score at 15.
However, Slough recovered well through captain Bobby Sher (35no) and Kuran Kumar (44no) to put themselves in a healthier position by the time the rain struck.
Both teams were awarded six points in the wake of the abandonment and, fortunately for Reading, basement side Horspath were beaten by Dinton.
David Barr's men now have two games remaining in the season to ensure their survival - a trip to Aston Rowant this Saturday (11am) and then a home match against Gerrards Cross on the final day.
With just seven points separating Reading from the relegation places, they could face a winner-takes-all match against Gerrards Cross if results don't go their way this weekend.
