READING were crushed by a devastating spell of bowling from Farnham Royal's Gunveer Singh on Saturday.

The spinner ripped through a porous Reading line-up who seem completely bereft of confidence, eventually finishing with figures of 9-47. What would surely be most galling for captain David Barr though would be the fact that this was actually a very winnable game. A strong 30 plus partnership between Jamie Hoddle and Sukhi Kang looked to give Reading the initiative as they chased Farnham's 167, but as if enveloped by their sides recent batting malaise, the pair crumbled and could only watch on as the tail was uncompromisingly cleaned up by the effervescent Singh.

Reading need to arrest this slide quickly with just four games remaining in Home Counties Division Two West, their first chance comes in an away game with Horspath on Saturday (11am).
