Title rivals set for Lane clash
READING CC skipper David Barr revealed his side will be going all out to beat Home Counties Division Two West title rivals Slough at Sonning Lane on Saturday.
But Barr, whose side sit five points clear of Thame at the top of the pile with six games to play, does not believe this weekend's clash with Bobby Sher's third place side is a must-win fixture.
He said: "We will definitely be going out to win, as we go out to win every game. It is a big game, but it is not the be-all and end-all.
"It is not just us and Slough in the title race, there are plenty of other teams still in with a shout because the league is so close.
"Saturday is an important game, but it is one of many important games left."
Reading missed a glorious chance to open up a bigger gap at the top of the pile last weekend when they drew with Thame. This allowed Slough to move within 13 points of them.
And Barr is not at all surprised to see their Berkshire rivals among the chasing pack.
He said: "I would have expected Slough to be there or there abouts at this stage of the season because they are a good side.
"They are quite similar to us in many regards and are probably going through a bit of a re-building process at the moment. But they are still a very good side with a lot of quality players."
