BERKSHIRE'S Over 50s have returned home from a sun-soaked tour to Barbados.

It proved to be their most successful tour to the region yet after winning two of their four games and securing a clutch of trophies.

They opened up with a narrow 14-run defeat to Barbados at the Wanderers ground where Keith Woodman took four wickets and Trevor Clacey hit 51.

That was followed by an eight-wicket defeat to Trinidad and Tobago Seniors, but they bounced back in style by beating Trinidad and Tobago Masters by six wickets at the famous Empire ground.

Berks chased down T&T Masters' big score of 223-7 from 33 overs thanks to a superb partnership of 163 between man of the match Clacey (79) and David Streak (77).

And the tourists finished strongly by beating Ontario by three wickets, with man of the match Dennis Cryer (4-34) and Ronnie Brock (39) leading the way.

Berks also had four players - Brock, Streak, Clacey and Phil Ridgeway - in an International XI which played a representative game against West Indies at the Kensington Oval.

Streak (23), Clacey (10) and captain Brock (16) all contributed to a score of 147-7 when rain interrupted play.

Under Duckworth Lewis rules the West Indies needed 157 to win in 27 overs, but they fell short on 139-9.
