READING took another step towards claiming the Home Counties Division Two West title this week - nearly six weeks since the end of the season.
After weeks of procrastination and dispute the League finally held a long-awaited disciplinary hearing last week that should go a long way towards finalising the destination of the title.
The meeting was held to decide whether Aston Rowant and Basingstoke & North Hants should be penalised for a mid-pitch brawl in their game back in August.
And the league decided that both clubs should be deducted 25 points from their final tally - a result which would see provisional champions Rowant slip below Reading in the table.
However, it is still likely to be a few weeks before Sonning Lane skipper David Barr can start the celebrations as Rowant chairman Gary Condon has indicated his club is likely to launch an appeal against the punishment this week.
