BERKSHIRE skipper Bjorn Mordt is determined to finish the Minor Counties Championship season on a high.

Berks secured their first win of what has been a disappointing championship season after thrashing Wiltshire by an innings and 35 runs last time out.

Now they hope to follow that up by defeating arch rivals Oxfordshire at Falkland CC in a three day Western Division game starting this Sunday (11 am).

Mordt, pictured right, said: "We simply haven't scored enough runs this season and losing a player of Carl Crowe's quality was a massive loss.

"But beating Wiltshire has given us confidence and it would be nice to finish on a high with another win.

"If we do that we should finish in the top four which isn't too bad. The main thing is that we learn from our mistakes and improve for next season."

Berks manager David Morris could make a couple of changes as Tom Lambert is struggling with a back injury. Fit-again James Morris and Euan Brock come into contention.

"As soon as the game finishes we will sit down and start planning for next season," added Mordt. "We won the championship last year and I believe we are not far away from doing it again."
