SAM Taylor believes there is still plenty for Finchampstead to be positive about despite a heavy defeat to Aston Rowant on Saturday.
An under-strength Finch side went down by five wickets to the Two West leaders as their winless run extended to a worrying six games.
With a 25-point gap now opened up to Reading immediately above them in the table, it looks increasingly likely that Russell Lane's men could be dragged into a three-way battle to avoid the drop.
However, with a run of games against Gerrards Cross, Thame Town and Basingstoke & North Hants coming up - all of whom Finch saw off in a three-week period earlier in the campaign - ex-skipper Taylor is keeping his chin up.
He said: "I still think there are reasons to be confident that there are positive results around the corner.
"We have had a run of playing some of the better sides, yet the teams below us have not really capitalised.
"Now we have got games against three teams who we did well against earlier in the season, and Gerrards Cross are a side we always seem to get something against.
"When you think we've also got Russell (Lane) and Darron Augustus back next week, I think we can still be positive."
In an extraordinary encounter in Oxfordshire on Saturday, Finch nearly dug themselves out of a hole after Wesley Morrick (6-44) helped skittle them for just 105.
But Anthony Parson (4-30) hit back in style for the visitors, taking four wickets in four maiden overs to have the hosts wobbling at 9-5.
But it was Morrick to the rescue again for the home side, as he cracked an unbeaten 51 in an unbroken 97-run stand with opener Tim Morgan (37no) to see his side to victory on 106-5.
And Taylor revealed that it could have been a case of roles reversed, had the coin come down the othe way.
He said: "To be honest it was a crucial toss to win.
"The pitch looked ok but there was a bit of moisture in it and if we had won the toss and got to use it first, I think there is a good chance we would have won.
"They found a bit of swing and Wes Morrick put the ball in the right place, which was very difficult to play against.
"And that was shown by Anthony Parson when we came out to bowl. He bowled four maidens, took four wickets and reduced them to 9-5 - it was great to watch.
"But after about 10 overs the ball stopped swinging, the pitch flattened out and any time you only put 105 on the board, life is going to be pretty hard.
"However, it was encouraging to see the efforts of the bowlers after we had been knocked over cheaply."
