Taylor hoping Finch can finish with a flourish

FORMER captain Sam Taylor believes Finchampstead can show that they are a top three side over the final five games of the Home Counties League season.

As expected rain played havoc with the Two West programme, and Finch's clash with Reading was eventually abandoned as a draw.

With the other four games in the division finishing in similar circumstances, there was little change to the table as the season moved into its final third.

And with three teams expected to be relegated from Two West, that leaves Finch just one place and 13 points above the danger zone.

However, Taylor believes that two wins will see the team shoot up the table - and give a more accurate representation of their ability.

He said: "It's a similar story to last season, where one week you can find yourself in second place, and the next week you'll be in seventh.

"So this is the crucial time to make sure you pick up a couple of wins so you can relax and look to finish as high as you can.

"We have certainly got the quality to be a top three team rather than a bottom three side, and that is what we have to show over the final five games."

Finch could face a tough time trying to secure those victories over the next fortnight as they face up to back-to-back trips to high-flyers Aston Rowant and Gerrards Cross.
