BERKSHIRE are awaiting a fitness report from Jamie Hoddle before confirming their team to face Wiltshire in the Minor Counties Championship at Salisbury starting on Sunday.

The young paceman has been sidelined recently with an injury to a side muscle, but made his return for Reading last Saturday.

Hoddle continued his recovery by playing for Berkshire under-17s against Bedfordshire in a two-day game this week.

"I will be speaking to him to see if there is any reaction to his injury before deciding whether to play him against Wiltshire," said team manager David Morris.

"If he is not fit, then we have some serious thinking to do."

If fit, Hoddle would replace Craig Crowe, who is unavailable due to work commitments, while former Middlesex slow left-arm bowler Chris Peploe also returns.

Opening batsman Dave Barnes, who missed the draw against Shropshire last week due to a back injury, also returns to the side, replacing his Henley club colleague Michael Roberts.

Reading wicketkeeper Sukhi Kang, who made his championship debut against Shropshire, retains his place as Michael Bates is required by Hampshire.

Berkshire (possible): Barnes, Shilvock, McLean, Mordt (c), Naylor, Morris, Logan, Peploe, Kang, Hoddle, Lambert.
