FORMER Finchampstead all-rounder Andy Rishton made his first-class debut for Loughborough MCCU against Sussex at Hove this week.
The 23-year-old Berkshire star took 1-67 off 19 overs in Sussex’s first innings of 337-7dec, and then top scored with an unbeaten 32 as his side were shot out for 99.
Loughborough made 71-2 in their second innings before the rain-affected game ended as a draw.
Rishton was part of the Berkshire team that won the Unicorns Championship and KO Trophy last season when he played his club cricket for Loughborough Town.
Finchampstead, who have lost several players during the close season, were hoping Rishton would return to the club, but instead he has joined Henley.
Home Counties Premier League champions Henley have lost two of their Berkshire players, with Waqas Hussain moving to a club in Norfolk and wicketkeeper Stewart Davison becoming Finchley’s director of cricket.
Head coach Tom Lambert said both will continue to play for Berkshire, but he has lost the services of Ealing all-rounder Ollie Wilkin, who is taking a break from all cricket.
