EUAN Woods was one of four Berkshire youngsters to play a starring role for England in their comprehensive victory over Bangladesh in the Under 19 World Cup in New Zealand.

All-rounder Woods, who plays club cricket for Henley, excelled with both bat and ball as England maintained their winning start to the tournament with a seven-wicket victory in Queenstown last night.

The 19-year-old spinner claimed 3-26 off 10 overs including the prize wicket of Afif Hossain, clean bowled for 63, as Bangladesh were dismissed for 175 in 49.2 overs.

Berkshire team-mate Ethan Bamber also returned excellent figures of 3-19 off six overs, while Tom Scriven took 1-29 off five overs.

And Jack Davies, who also came through the Berkshire youth ranks, took two sharp catches behind the stumps off Woods and Bamber.

Berkshire's Jack Davies.

Davies, who does not keep wicket for Henley, also kept his unblemished record in tact by not conceding a bye for the second England game in a row.

Woods also shone with bat in hand, hitting 48 not out from 57 deliveries including four boundaries as England eased to victory in the 30th over of their reply, finishing 177-3.

He enjoyed an unbroken partnership of 128-runs with England captain Harry Brook, who smacked 102no off 84 balls.

Ironically, Woods did not play in England's opening game, an eight-wicket win over Namibia, but the other three Berkshire players did.

England's next match in the tournament is against Canada this Saturday.

The matches are broadcast live on Sky Sports.
