KIDMORE End’s hopes of promotion from Division 2a were mathematically ended following a disastrous nine-wicket home defeat against Windsor, writes Richard Ashton.

The home side were skittled for just 88, and Windsor raced to victory in a mere 12 overs.

Kidmore End host leaders North Maidenhead on Saturday (12.30pm).

In Division 2b, Hurst (178-9) lost to Thatcham Town (250-6) by 72 runs, despite Phil Higgs making 43. Hurst host Sonning on Saturday (12.30pm).

Sonning were thumped by 170 runs at Beaconsfield. Adeel Chaudry (3-35) and Jason Pennisi (3-70) were the pick of the attack, but Beaconsfield made 268-8 before knocking the visitors over for just 98.

Richard Sandford (56) and Andy Jackson (43) batted well for Purley on Thames (190), but their Division 3a promotion hopes were all but ended with a six-wicket loss at Wokingham 2nds (191-4).

Purley on Thames host Fleet this Saturday (12.30pm).

Wargrave remain top after they had the better of a draw with Chiswick & Whitton.

Chris Lunn (60), Neal Robinson (44no) and Luke Taylor (42) took Wargrave to 231-7, and skipper Robinson then claimed 2-62 to restrict the visitors to 209-8.

Theale & Tilehurst (165-8) stayed fourth in Division 4b after hanging on for a draw against Stoke Green 2nds.

They visit Amersham 3rds on Saturday (12.30pm).

Wargrave 2nds (185-9) remain in Division 5b relegation trouble after a heart-breaking one-wicket defeat at second-placed Maidenhead & Bray 2nds (187-9).

In Division 6b, a brilliant 89 from Mark Richards inspired table-topping Sonning 2nds (162-7) to a three-wicket triumph at Royal Ascot 3rds (161-9).

Hurst 2nds (201-7 declared off 50 overs) crushed Yateley 3rds (89) by 112 runs.

Kidmore End 2nds remain in Division 7a promotion contention after beating Thatcham Town 3rds by 94 runs.

Chris Pigden (72) and Tom Bodeker (61) helped the End declare on 211-5 off 42 overs, and Finn Russell (4-15) starred to dismiss the hosts for 117.

Jimmy George bagged 5-76, but Theale & Tilehurst 2nds (110) were thumped by 137 runs at Newbury 2nds (247-9).

In Division 8a, Theale & Tilehurst 3rds (122) won a low-scoring thriller by 49 runs against Bagshot 3rds (73).

Wargrave 3rds collected 25 Division 9a points after Thatcham Town 4ths conceded.
