READING CC sadly suffered another large dose of punishment on Saturday, writes Dave Wright.

Rob Large blasted an unbeaten century as Buckingham Town eased to an eight-wicket win at Sonning Lane.

It leaves Reading rooted at the foot of the Home Counties Premier League Division Two table without a win in 10 games.

The hosts, electing to bat first, got off to a promising start with opener Pav Chima making 69 off 101 balls and his fourth-wicket stand of 58 with Asim Zaka (31) took them to 137-4.

But wickets then began to tumble and they were all out for a below-par 185 in the 52nd over.

For Buckingham, Kallan Braid-Ball took 3-32 off 12 overs and Nuwan Jayasena 3-39 off 13.5.

The visitors did not encounter too many difficulties in reaching their target with Large producing an excellent innings of 107, which came off 93 balls and contained 19 boundaries.

He and Leigh Tomlinson put on 58 for the first wicket before the latter was caught by Qasim Ali off the bowling of Abid Ul Wahab for 30.

The only other wicket to fall came when Ashley Pearson (28) turned a Firaz Amjad delivery into the hands of Hamish Scott with the total on 120.

Large and Jon Cater (12 not out) then steered their side home in 31.1 overs.

Ul Wahab finished with 1-30 off 6.1 overs and skipper Amjad 1-18 off three.

Reading ended the game with four points, but that was halved when they had two points deducted due to their slow over rate.

They are away to fifth-placed Amersham this Saturday.
