BERKSHIRE Cricket League side Woodcote’s midweek XI have a new sponsor for the 2017 season.
Landlords Chris Shelton and Jay Smith of the Red Lion pub, located opposite the picturesque cricket ground, have supplied a brand new kit to be worn by the team in the Red Kite Solutions Downs Cricket League Division One.
Woodcote began their campaign with an impressive 33-run victory at Falkland recently.
Paul Knox top scored with 38 not out, and with captain James Wheeler hitting a crucial 37 and Jonny Clark chipping in with 25 not out, the visitors totalled 143-3 in their 20 overs.
The Falkland reply did not go to plan as man-of-the-match Knox (2-16), James Worsfold (2-17) and Mark Pearson (2-20) all bowled well to restrict their opponents to 110-7.
