WARGRAVE 2nds rediscovered their winning form thanks to a two-wicket win at Bracknell in Thames Valley League Division 5b.

The home side lost the toss and were put into bat first, and made a good start with Ian Shaw (45) and Aman Talha (24) at the top of the order.

However, Bracknell lost the remaining nine wickets for just 20 runs and were bowled out for 103 after 40.2 overs.

Scott Walker led the Wargrave bowling attack with his figures of 4-28. He was supported by Scott Morton (3-25) and Adit Rajeev (2-14).

In a low scoring match at Larges Lane, the visitors closed on 104-8 from 31.4 overs for the victory as Bracknell slumped to a third straight loss.

Eight Wargrave batsmen scored in the teens to get their side over the line, including Rajeev (17*), J J Harris (16) and Sam Bowers (15).

Phil Stone was the pick of the Bracknell bowlers with his 4-34, while Talha claimed 3-36 and Shafiq Malik 1-29.

Falkland maintained their perfect home record in Division One with a six-wicket win against Gerrards Cross.

The visitors batted first and were bowled out on the penultimate ball of the innings for 214 with Daniel Hampton (64) and skipper Elliott Green (33*) the top scorers.

Saad Altaf took 3-35 for Falkland with Jason Williams claiming 2-28 and Charlie Dale 1-23.

James Bird (89) and Paul Jenkins (58) put on 145 runs for the first wicket, before Falkland closed on 218-4 after 36.5 overs for the win.

Malkeet Dhaliwal was the pick of the Gerrards Cross bowlers with his 3-16 from five overs.

Kidmore End remain third in Division 2a following their 113-run home victory over Kew on Saturday.

Guy Ashby was the star of the show with his unbeaten 124, while skipper James Frost added 68 and Jack Easton 43 as the hosts made 313-5 from 50 overs.

Richard Boardman took 3-70 for Kew, with Stephen Van Eeden (1-30) and Charlie Weeks (1-82) taking the other wickets.

Skipper Will Shaw (83) and Sam Booth (40) were the main run scorers for the visitors, but the remaining nine wickets fell for just 59 runs as Kew were bowled out for 200 after three balls of the 36th over.

Frost was the chief destroyer with his five-wicket-haul (5-26), while Umer Faroqi (2-44) and Calem Taylor (2-53) took two wickets apiece.

Hurst are the new leaders in Division 2b after a five-wicket victory away at Aldershot thanks to an unbeaten century from Max Carroll.

Phil Higgs claimed 4-25, Usman Ijaz 2-37 and Ross Bonnell 2-50 as Aldershot were bowled out for 201 after 49.4 overs.

Faisal Abbas made 62 for the home team, with Calum Grover (32) and Mike Lloyd (21) the other top scorers.

In response, Hurst closed on 207-5 from 48.3 overs with Carroll (100*) and Floyd Na Nagara (38) the leading batsman.

Sean O’Dwyer (2-39) and Duncan Anslow (1-19) took the wickets for Aldershot.

Also in Division 2b, Sonning suffered a two-wicket loss at High Wycombe 2nds.

Jason Pennisi hit an unbeaten 90 off 91 balls while 36 extras including 27 wides helped Sonning post 220-7 from 50 overs.

But John Stevens (81) led the chase and, with Simon Janes (36) and Henry Moore (23) chipping in, Wycombe got home on 222-8 in the 48th over.

In the same division, Yateley lost to Thatcham Town by 17 runs.

John Williams top scored for Thatcham with 39 in their 191 total, with Stuart Lipo (3-37) the pick of the Yateley bowlers.

But Yateley lost too many cheap wickets and were dismissed for 174 in reply despite Harry Maxffield (40) and Lipo (42) making decent scores. Chris Bird led the Thatcham attack with 3-31.

Purley-on-Thames have moved up to second place in Division 3a with a 155-run win away at Cove 2nds.

Batting first, Purley declared on 257-5 after 51 overs with Max Baker-Smith unbeaten on 130 and Amit Rawal adding 29.

Five Cove bowlers were able to take wickets with Daniel Wall (1-18) plus Andrew Mcneill and Darren Collins (both 1-33) the pick of them.

The home side were then bowled out for 102 in 26.4 overs. Reagan Mclean and Neill Marsh both made 30 runs while Andrew Jackson was the Purley destroyer-in-chief with 5-35.

In the same division, Wargrave gained the better of a draw against visitors Falkland 2nds.

Neal Robinson (68), Michael Cowdell (34) and Luke Taylor (32) helped Wargrave to 216-8 from 52 overs, with Peter Randall (3-57) the pick of the Falkland attack.

A superb spell of bowling from Razwan Hanif (5-28) then left Falkland in real trouble, but they dug in at the death and held on for the draw on 119-9 from 48 overs thanks to David Bloor (24), Ben Thomas (25no) and No.11 Gul Afridi (10no).

Theale & Tilehurst are now second in Division 4b following their eight-wicket win at home to Cookham Dean 2nds.

Chris Cook (3-28) and Ash Misra (3-38) led the home bowling attack as Cookham were bowled out for 139 in 45.4 overs.

Simon D’Ardenne (37), Mike Cutting 33 and Aaron O’Donoghue (31) all made starts for Cookham but could not go on to make a big score.

Theale close on 140-2 after 29.4 overs for the victory with Hammad Ali (43), Andy Sharp (38) and skipper Michael Holder (36) the leading scorers.
