CAPTAIN Sanjeev Jain cracked a sensational 104 from just 100 balls as Emmbrook & Bearwood 2nds had the better of their Division Two draw against Warfield, writes Richard Ashton.

He put on 95 for the opening wicket with Matt Robertson (44), and with Sirsh Ghosh (78no from 55 balls including 10 4s and four 6s) blasting away at the end, the Bears totalled an impressive 243-5 in their 39 overs.

Sai Rajgopalan (4-26) then got to work, but Warfield skipper Dan Torry made a vital 44 to help his side close on 116-8.

Shinfield maintained their perfect start with a dramatic one-wicket win at Stratfield Turgis.

In a game reduced to 25 overs per side, the hosts were restricted to 122-5 with Manoj George (44) top scoring.

Opening bowlers Steve Clarke (3-18) and Craig Strudley (3-36) did a good job both at the start and end of the Shinfield innings, but the visitors were able to cross the winning line with two balls to spare.

Dan Finucane (4-21) and Nirav Upadhyay (4-28) starred for Crowthorne & Crown Wood 2nds, but they were forced to hold on for a draw at home to Hawley.

Alasdair Mortiboys (33) led the way for the visitors, but they were shot out for just 106.

However, Arthur Richer (3-14) turned the game back in Hawley’s favour, and the Crows eventually closed on 85-9.

And that target proved insufficient as Dave Drury (48) fired the leaders home with more than five overs to spare, Mick Chard (3-37) the pick of the Peppard Stoke Row attack.

Tauqeer Khan (3-11) produced a fine opening spell for Farley Hill, but they lost a thriller by four runs to Goring-on-Thames.

Nikhil Kulkarni (40) and skipper Ollie Carrier (39) were the sole Goring players to make double figures in their total of 115, but fine spells from James Major (4-19) and Stuart Hedley (3-26) titled the game in the away side’s favour as they bowled Farley out for 111.
