READING Blue Coat earned their first victory of the season as they battled to an 18-run success in their Twenty20 at Pangbourne College last Wednesday.
The Sonning school appeared to be in trouble after being bowled out for just 103, but a disciplined bowling effort saw them restrict the hosts to just 85-2 in reply.
Blue Coat found the going tougher as they were thumped by 226 runs in their 50-overs-a-side clash at Abingdon on Saturday.
Only Ben Cole (2-27 off 10) and Jamie Etherington were able to stem the flow of runs as Abingdon amassed an impressive 333-9, and Blue Coat reply never got going as they were dismissed for just 107. Kalhan Shah top scored with 36.
In a busy week, Blue Coat also crashed out of the National Schools T20 competition with defeat to Magdalen College, Oxford, on Sunday.
- BRADFIELD College slipped to a six-wicket defeat to Stowe on Saturday.
They were shot out for just 120 before their opponents knocked the runs off in 39.1 overs.
