WEST Reading were knocked out of the Berkshire Cup at the first round stage as Cookham Dean’s South African opener Chris Marrow continued his fine start to the season, the hosts winning by 65 runs.
The young wicketkeeper batsman – who made half centuries in friendlies against Peppard Stoke Row and Kidmore End the previous week – helped himself to a maiden century (133 off 109 balls) for Cookham as they racked up an impressive total of 272-6 in 40 overs, captain Ben Millar helping himself to 54 from 50 balls during a huge opening stand.
The West Reading reply slipped behind the rate early on, and despite useful knocks from Usman Tariq (47no) and Ehtsham Iqbal (42), they were eventually dismissed for 207. Yasir Qureshi (4-53) was the pick of the attack.
