DAN Hayden was named Peppard Stoke Row 1st XI Players’ Player of the Year as the club celebrated its end of season awards night at Caversham Heath Golf Club on Friday.

The vice captain scored a Berkshire Cricket League Premier Division run-topping 807 runs at an average of 89.67 to earn his teammates’ – who finished as runners-up – plaudits.

Youngster Fergus Nutt won the Batsman of the Year trophy after scoring 747 runs at 67.91, while fellow Under 19 Chris Humphreys took the bowling gong after 18 wickets at a fine average of 11.17.

Simon Gozzard collected the 2nd XI Players’ Player award, while Richard Walker and Ian Jackson won the batting and bowling prizes following fine seasons.

Mark Lambert was crowned 3rd XI Batsman of the Year, while skipper Rob Dyer was the champion bowler. He selected U15 George Lee as his Captain’s Player of the Year.

Max Baker-Smith – who scored 785 runs at 112.14 and took 16 wickets at 8.63 – was Sunday Kites Player of the Year, with U15 Alfie Burnett winning the Maharajas edition for his 13 wickets at 9.62.

Josh Perkins was chosen as Young Player of the Year, having scored 271 runs and taken 24 wickets, while seven players collected engraved tankards for recording their maiden centuries. They were club captain Paddy Hennessy, Danny May, Brett Everett, David Williams, Baker-Smith, Nutt and Ashley Hayden.

Clubman of the Year was awarded to Ronnie Brock, who has put in more than a decade of service and who continues to do a huge amount behind the scenes despite stepping down as chairman last year.

Don Townsin, who has helped make Peppard Common one of the best batting tracks around, was elected as an honorary life member.

Matt Kimber won the coveted Dion Sampson Trophy for most ducks during the season (four ducks including three golden from eight innings), while Paris Mann won the star raffle prize, a signed picture of Dan Hayden, donated by the club's 1st XI Players' Player of the Year.
