SONNING stayed top of Division 3a following a 64-run triumph at Eversley 2nds, writes Richard Ashton.

Duncan Parr (78) and Pete Dean (63) were the mainstays of the Sonning batting line-up as the visitors declared on 221-9 after 50 overs, Sam Glaze taking 5-76 and Roni Rezaul 4-48.

James Berger-North top scored with 50 in the Boars’ reply, but a fine spell from Raja Rafaqat (4-29) proved decisive as they were bowled out for 157.

Sonning host second-placed Aldershot on Saturday (1pm).

All-rounder Andy Jackson smashed 80 not out before taking 4-20 to lead Purley-on-Thames (228-6) to an 84-run success against Falkland 2nds (144).

The Potters host Eversley 2nds this coming Saturday (1pm).

In Division 2a, runaway leaders Finchampstead 2nds pulled off a miraculous victory at Kidmore End.

The hosts blasted their way to 289-6 before declaring after 50 overs, Joe Waldron (83) and Guy Ashby (76no) the standout batsmen.

Opener Russell Lane made 44 before the game looked up for Finch when they slipped to 171-8 with 13 overs remaining.

However, a stunning unbeaten stand between Ed Oliver (89no) and Craig Hodges (59no) snatched the win with five balls to spare.

Kidmore End visit Maidenhead & Bray this Saturday (1pm).

In Division 2b, Hurst cruised to a seven-wicket win at home to neighbours Wargrave.

Phil Higgs (3-18) and Nick Reynolds (3-22) did the damage for the hosts as they shot out Wargrave for just 102, and although Hurst suffered an early wobble, useful contributions from James Watt (47no) and Lewis Smith (26no) steered their side home.

Hurst travel to Slough 2nds this Saturday (1pm), while Wargrave host Henley 2nds.

Andy Sharp took 4-52 for Theale & Tilehurst (179), but it was not enough to stop North Maidenhead 2nds (183-5) winning their Division 4b clash by five wickets.

Theale & Tilehurst visit Thatcham Town 2nds on Saturday (1pm).

Sonning 2nds fell victim to an extraordinary run chase as they lost by one wicket at home to Boyne Hill 2nds in Division 5b.

Mark Richards (109), Waqar Ahmed (58no), Dan Le Marquand (56) and Will Ward (50no) were among the runs as the hosts declared on a formidable 315-4 after 46 overs.

However, Najib Khan (93) and Nigel Couzens gave Boyne a fantastic platform, and they just held their nerve to get home despite the best efforts of Ghulam Abbas (4-123).

Hurst 2nds produced a fine performance to have the better of their draw against runaway Division 6b leaders Wargrave 2nds.

Alex Orme (77), Tim Everitt (71) and Tom Hibbs (55) all made good contributions as the hosts racked up a massive 300-8, and despite Sam Bowers making 102, Wargrave could only reach 215-8 in reply.

Gautham Kamath (42) top scored for Purley-on-Thames 2nds in their 83-run victory against Theale & Tilehurst 2nds.

James Bozarth (4-44) was in good form with the ball for the hosts as they bowled Purley out for 166, but Alex Clough (4-27) was even better for the Potters as T&T were shot out for just 83.

In Division 7a, Theale & Tilehurst 3rds pulled off a superb run chase to beat Yateley 3rds by seven wickets.

Jacob Vincent struck 69 for the hosts as they declared on 228-6 after 46 overs, but a fabulous Khalid Aslam (83no) and Nadir Aslam (60no) put on a fabulous partnership saw the side home.

Kidmore End 2nds were soundly beaten by 119 runs at Henley 4ths.

Charlie Bradbury (93) and Matt Dalrymple (82) fired the hosts to 236-4, and Kidmore were rolled for 117, Will Patey making 44.

In Division 9a, Kidmore End 3rds took the points from their scheduled game with Wargrave 3rds after the latter could not raise a team.
