WHAT a fantastic gesture by Reading Football Club.

They plan to bus supporters to Norwich City for the last away game of the season - for FREE!

The game was orginally scheduled for a Saturday afternoon but has now been put back until Monday, April 27 with a 7.45pm kick off so it can be screened live on Sky Sports.

Norwich is a long hike from Berkshire so for most fans that means taking half a day off work, pulling a sickie or hiring a helicopter to get there in time.

Let's be honest, if Royals' want anything like a decent following at Carrow Road on the night then they HAD to think of something.

And this credit-crunch busting initiative, which has the backing of supporters group, STAR, hits the right spot.

GET voting - we have just launched our Player of the Season competition in our papers and on our website.

There may not be one stand-out candidate this year, but don't let that stop you from having your say.

The Chronicle is the only official sponsor of the club's awards scheme, a partnership that has lasted nearly 40 years.

And we also have some top prizes up for grabs at the end of it - including free beer for a year!
