It is the first final of the year and one that Manuel Pena Garces’ men have fond memories of after beating Newham Neptunes in last year’s final to secure their first trophy of the season.

Rockets had a challenging route to the final as they defeated Swindon Shock, Thames Valley Cavaliers, Kent Crusaders, Leicester Warriors and Worthing Thunder.

They’ll now face Manchester Magic in the final, with Rockets edging the only encounter between the sides this season by two points, and Pena Garces (pictured right) is expecting a similarly close contest on Sunday between two entertaining sides.

“We have always had close games against them and I expect this game to be no different,” he said. “They’re a good organisation with some really good players and a good team ethic.

“They haven’t beaten us in a while and I’m sure this is the game they really want to win but so do we.

“Preparation, hard work, and execution are the elements that will be key for us this week. I am determined to do everything I can to help the team and this week we are focused on giving everything so we have every opportunity to bring the National Cup back to Reading and for our loyal fans who deserve to be part of our success.”
