READING FC boss Paul Clement is sweating on the fitness of Mo Barrow, Yakou Meite and Leandro Bacuna ahead of tomorrow’s Championship clash against Bolton Wanderers (3pm ko).

All three players were forced off during Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup win against Birmingham City after picking up knocks.

But Clement is hoping the trio will have made a swift recovery and can start against Phil Parkinson’s Trotters at Madejski Stadium.

He said: “We’re still monitoring them, they all have a chance for the weekend and we’ll see how it goes.

“Meite is a bit sore and Barrow’s injury has settled down a little bit, but we want to explore further to see if it’s just uncomfortable or whether there’s an injury there. If he is going to be out it won't be for long.

“Bacuna’s ankle is also a little bit sore but he’ll probably be okay for the weekend.”

Clement also gave an update on the rest of his injured players, some of whom have been sidelined for several months.

But one of his long-term victims, Garath McCleary, is now well on the road to recovery and could be available selection within the next few weeks.

Reading Chronicle:

Yakou Meite limped off towards the end of the cup win over Birmingham City in which he scored.

"Sone Aluko is close and McCleary isn't far away,” revealed Clement.

"Garath has been desperately unlucky. It's always better to avoid surgery and we were advised not to.

"Then it got to the point where natural healing didn't occur so we had to intervene, which meant he's already behind in his recovery.

"I know he is desperate to get back, but he's had a major setback.

“Dave Edwards is a bit further on and it shouldn't be long before Chris Gunter re-joins training.

"Adrian Pops is also available for selection. The problem is his condition as other players are further ahead. "

Meanwhile, Callum Harriott is continuing his long road to recovery having not played a first team game since December 2016 due to ongoing hamstring issues.

"He's been riddled with injuries so you have to be more cautious,” added Clement. “He started pre-season well, got a couple of weeks under his belt them injured again. We'll have to take our time.

"You'll always have players more susceptible to injury and other who recover quicker than others, we're all different.

"Over time the medical team understand the history of each player."
