The East Berks seniors section held their club championships with Jeremy Platt (5hcp) returning a gross 73 to finish four shots clear of David Cowap (4hcp).

The best nett prize was won by Orbin Curtis (14hcp) with 65, while Frank Blundell (20hcp) was runner-up with 67.

The ladies’ section contested the Angela Uzielli Trophy with Division 1 being won by Laura Webb (0hcp) with 39 points from Gillian Bell (20hcp) on 38 points. Patricia Bidston (23hcp) returned 39 to win Division 2 by one point from Celia May (22hcp).

Graham Rimmer (12hcp)beat a field of around 100 to win the Camberley Cup with a nett 63 on the par-69 course. He beat Stephen Gale (19hcp) by one shot with Alan Cambridge (16hcp) third with a nett 65.

The midweek monthly Stableford was won by Jeff Skinner (21hcp) with 41 points, one ahead of Colin Armitage (14hcp).

There was a strong field for the East Berks Junior Stag, a 36-hole scratch junior competition with players travelling from Kent, Surrey, Hampshire and Bedfordshire, along with the Berks, Bucks & Oxon junior county players.

The winner was Harry Crockett (0hcp) from Addington Palace in Surrey. His opening round 71 left him three shots adrift of Lewis Brown (3hcp) from Surbiton.

However, Crockett recorded a four-under-par 65 in the second round including six birdies and two bogeys or a two-under-par (136), two shots ahead of Callum Tibbs (+1hcp) from Chart Hill. Callum also returned a four-under-par 65 in the afternoon round with Lewis Brown third with 141.

Kevin Whiting and Issy Wiggins-Turner from Tylney Park won East Berks’ annual Mixed Open with 40 points. Runners-up on countback were Keith and Valerie Watson from Newbury & Crookham (39pts) ahead of Ann Pennell (Castle Royle) and Richard Pennell (Mill Ride).
