JANE Murphy was crowned ladies champion of the Royal County of Berkshire Bowling Association after she beat Mary Mackay 21-10.

Wokingham’s Sylvia Pearce triumphed in the 2-Wood singles, beating Nicola Jones 15-5, while Mackay took the Champion of Champions crown with a 21-17 victory against Cheryl Colby.

Lauren Coles won the junior singles with a 21-10 success against Cathy Edwards, Helen Woodley hammered Kim Baroa 21-1 in the unbadged singles and Kim Eales won the secretaries/treasurers/delegate singles 21-14 against Janet Allen.

Helen Moore and Lyn Orlando narrowly won the pairs 20-19 against Angela Willett and Pam Simms, while the senior pairs title went to Wendy Smart and Beverley Wall, who beat Moore and Orlando 19-15.

The triples was won 22-20 by Bet Aubrey, Fran Oakes and Sandra Harrison, the trio overcoming Bracknell’s Joyce Edwards, Sheila Eavis and Shirley Durkin.

Julia Howe, Carol Dover, Caroline Hitt and Helen Jones snatched victory in the fours, beating Val Carter, Cathy Hope, Yvonne Randall and Helen Simpson 19-18.

  • TWYFORD beat neighbours Wargrave 88-49 (14-0 on points) in their Kennet League Division Three East derby.

Sunday saw eight teams competing for the ‘Alf Prime Triples' title – a yearly internal event. Played over several rounds the two teams to compete in the final in September are Peter Gaskell, Tina Scherer and Dave Johnson (skip), and Jean Bennett, Steve Chamberlain and Phil Rose (skip).
