EARLEY youngster Ali Kabeer has become a double bronze medallist in the National Championships.
The 12-year-old, representing Wokingham Canoe Club, enjoyed double success at the marathon championships held in Reading.
The event took place at Thames Promenade, in Caversham, and attracted more than 1,000 people racing in different categories from all round England, Scotland and Wales, and also some international racers.
In the K1 discipline, where Kabeer raced on his own in his kayak, featured 21 other competitors, but he took third place after taking 43 minutes to complete the 8km course.
In the pairs, Kabeer teamed up with Oxford's Koen Aryan to seal a second bronze medal of the weekend.
Kabeer is following in the footsteps of his sister, Hafsa, who won bronze in the World Cup in Portugal.
