DUE to the ban on the use of keepnets on the RDAA stretches of the River Kennet between Padworth and County Weir, matches on these venues were cancelled, writes Alan Hughes.

Bracknell Avocets fished their match on the Thames at Wallingford B section and seven brave souls turned out undeterred by the weather forecast.

The gusty wind and heavy rain made any method of fishing difficult, but Stewart Howe found the bigger fish to record his third win of the season.

He netted two bream of 7lbs and 3lbs plus some bits to total l0bs 8ozs.

Second place went to Terry Smith who netted silver fish to weigh in 5lbs and completing the trio was Martyn Connelly with 2lbs 4ozs of bits.

Sonning River was the venue for Reading Civil Service and despite the difficult conditions Richard Munday took the top spot with 4lbs 11ozs of roach and perch.

Graham Hawkins was the runner-up with 2lbs 9ozs of silvers and with the same species which totalled 1lb 11ozs, Ian Marcham claimed third place.

Tilehurst British Legion moved from the Kennet to their stretch of the Thames at Hardwicke.

Tony Tibble claimed the first place with 9lbs 6ozs of mainly roach and similar species saw Simon Couling weigh in 6lbs 11ozs to claim the runner-up spot.

A total of 4lbs 11ozs was enough to give Chris Humphries third place.

This month’s Association match will take place at Froxfield due to the keepnet ban.
