READING City are continuing to build a new team ahead of their opening Hellenic League match at Shrivenham a week on Saturday (August 4).

New joint-managers Andy Findlay and Rob Creech have been busy recruiting and that is likely to continue in the weeks ahead.

Among their latest recruits is the well-travelled Adam Cashin-Murray, who will be returning to Scours Lane having previously played for Reading Town.

He is joined by midfielder Jack Hemming, who played for Highmoor Ibis’ Allied Counties League side last season, former Hungerford players Gareth Brown and Kallum Thomas, as well as Matt Hill, the former Ascot United and Binfield goalkeeper.

Findlay said: “We are still hoping to bring in a couple of more players in the next week before we go into the league.

“The club’s aim is to connect more with the local community by giving young talented footballers an opportunity to join a progressive club in their area.”

Findlay has been among 24 coaches provisionally selected from 150 applicants to attend a UEFA B Licence.

“I have been looking to do this years, so obviously I am very pleased to be selected, the hard work begins,” he said.

City’s first home game will be against Abingdon United on Monday, August 6.

They also face two early-season fixtures with Binfield, away on August 13 and home on September 3.

City are home to Wraysbury at the Ibis Club this Saturday (3pm ko) in a friendly.

They should have hosted Aston Clinton last weekend, but it was cancelled as the pitch had been double booked with another game already in progress when both teams arrived at the Scours Lane venue.

Relegated Woodley United, who have also had to rebuild their squad after losing several players, will kick-off their Hellenic League Division 1 East fixtures away to Abingdon Town on August 4.
