READING City are close to confirming their first batch of signings with joint manager Andy Findlay revealing they will go into season with a complete new team.

“We will start revealing names in the next day or so and I think people will be surprised by some of our signings,” he said.

“A very different Reading non-league team is coming.”

City defeated Wokingham & Emmbrook 7-0 in a friendly last weekend, with a mixture of potential first-team players, trialists and 16 to 17 year olds from their Player Development Programme who will feature in the club's Thames Valley Premier League team.

City play Eversley & California at the Ibis Club in Scours Lane on Saturday.

AFC Aldermaston have signed Kieran Maylen and Bailey Roffey, both former Reading City players, as well as Tommy Elmore from Henley Town, Harry Peters, who has previously played for Henley Town and ex-Tadley Calleva player Kieran Sengelow.

Pre-season games have so far not gone well for Aldermaston, with last Saturday's 7-0 defeat by Binfield coming after a 6-0 reverse at the hands of Ardley United and a 9-1 loss to Abingdon United.

Better news for the club is they have received planning consent from West Berkshire Council to install a 65-seat stand at their ground.

They are now waiting for their application for a grant to be approved by the Football Foundation.
