READING Racers face Southern Development League rivals Weymouth Wildcats on Saturday night for the second time in three weeks.

The Racers came out on top 24-11 last time around, but it is likely to be a very different prospect this weekend.

Reading will go into the match with a line-up unchanged now in four matches, which has resulted in a very settled set of riders with a growing team spirit and a not unimpressive set of results behind them.

The club’s managers will, however, have decisions to make in August with Dan Gilkes determined to be available again after breaking his shoulder at Peterborough in mid-June.

Sixth squad member William O’keefe has had injuries of his own, resulting in losing his National League team place at Stoke, but is seemingly enjoying his freedom, picking up several guest bookings that mean he has still to make his 2018 debut for the team he helped to the SDL title last season.

Weymouth have named a very different team for this encounter, tracking four squad members, a seemingly simple feat which has not proved straightforward for them so far this year.

The Wildcats may be seeking their first win of the season, but this is almost certainly their best line-up, and should be a challenge for a Racers team who know a big win would put them top of the league on points difference.

All this will mean this could be one of the closest SDL match-ups of 2018, with the added spice of both teams using Eastbourne as their home track this year, and desperate for bragging rights.

Saturday's Teams: Reading Racers – 1. Nick Laurence, 2. Rhys Laker, 3. Jamie Bursill, 4. Stephen Whitehouse (c).

Weymouth Wildcats – 1. Luke Barnes, 2. Jordan Bull, 3. Bailey Fellows, 4. Connor Fletcher.
