STRATFIELD Turgis hammered Crowthorne & Crown Wood 2nds by 131 runs to move up to second in the Division One table, writes Richard Ashton.

Dan Spence (71), skipper Manoj George (51) and Adam Brown (43) were all among the runs as Stratfield posted 226-8, Nirav Upadhyay the pick of the bowling attack with 6-51.

The Crows reply never got going as Tom Clay (5-37) and Vignesh Vaidyanathan (3-15) got to work, the home side bowled out for 90.

Table-toppers Shinfield brushed aside fellow high-flyers Twyford & Ruscombe by 101 runs.

Fakhir Ali blasted an unbeaten 107 from only 80 balls as Shinfield racked up 260-7, and despite Stuart Barrable’s 51, Twyford could only make 159 in reply, Hassan Safdar bagging 4-30.

Woodley 2nds scraped to a one-wicket victory at home to Earley.

Saqib Javed’s 48 helped the visitors to 182-8, with Upendra Deshpande (4-23) the pick of the Woodley attack.

And it was skipper Deshpande (52) who played a key role in guiding the home side to 186-9, Shiv Muniyappa’s 3-30 proving insufficient for Earley.

West Reading 2nds eased past Waltham St Lawrence by 81 runs.

Captain Usman Ali (47) and wicketkeeper Mehdi Harees (43) led Wests to 227, Siva Kumar the best bowler with 4-37 in his 11 overs.

The Saints struggled in reply, and with Saad Jaffary (4-24) and Hafeez Ul-Wahab (3-41) on top form, West Reading were able to dismiss their opponents for 146.

Under 15 Ed Atkinson top scored with 46 as Peppard Stoke Row 2nds (210-6 declared in 31 overs) crushed Hawley by 140 runs.

Gerry Bacon also chipped in with 42 for PSR, before Olly Nicholson’s 5-7 decimated the hosts for only 70.

Paul Knox smashed a magnificent 106 not out to fire Woodcote up to third in the Premier Division table, James Worsfold’s men beating visitors Farley Hill by seven wickets.

Michael Sheridan (52) and Duncan Greef (48) shared an opening stand of 93 for Farley, but their total of 174-4 proved nowhere near enough as Woodcote raced to 176-3 in 29.3 overs.

Basement boys Ibis Mapledurham grabbed their first win of the season in dramatic fashion as loan star Sinith Chandran hit a four from his first ball to help them beat Goring by one wicket.

The hosts were in desperate trouble at 27-6 after Richard Pilkington (4-26) and Lewis Hart (4-34) tore through their top order, only for Nirmal Singh (45) and Pete Slade (65no) to rebuild the innings and get Goring to 192.

Dave Drury (84) and Pilkington (64) seemed to have put the game to bed as they led Ibis to 161-2, only for Andy Benning’s 4-43 to leave them reeling on 191-8.

However, Chandran – on loan from Crowthorne & Crown Wood – struck his first ball for four to seal a thrilling win.

Zaf Akram (3-8) and Furqan Tanveer (3-24) starred with the ball as BCS won another dramatic game by one wicket against Woodley.

BCS bowled their opponents out for 138, and despite the best efforts of Miraque Badurdeen (7-37), the home side squeezed to 141-9.

Sandhurst conceded their game at second-placed Mortimer West End.

In Division Two, Rob Simmons made a superb 84 not out as Peppard Stoke Row 3rds had the better of their draw at Welford Park 2nds.

Hugh Asquith chipped in with 42 as PSR totalled 247-8, and with youngster Owen Simmons taking 3-17, they kept the hosts to 190-9.

Welford captain Uday Paturi top scored for his side with 50.

Purley on Thames 3rds, Sandhurst 2nds and Warfield conceded their games against Shinfield 2nds, Sulhamstead 3rds and West Reading 3rds respectively.

It was a similar story in Division Three, where Falkland Development forfeited against Shinfield 3rds and Mortimer gave the points to West Reading 4ths.

  • A SAM Fooks swing bowling masterclass helped Peppard Stoke Row beat Ruislip Victoria by five wickets to leapfrog their opponents into third spot in the Berkshire, Mid Bucks and Chilterns League Championship.

Scott Harris bagged 3-37 as PSR took the initiative, but it was Fooks (7-36 including five caught in the slip cordon) who inflicted the most damage as the Victorians were knocked over for a meagre 120.

PSR made a disastrous start as they slipped to 18-4, but a fine partnership between Under 17 Dan Bacon (42) and Harris (42no) proved crucial in helping the hosts chase their target in 19.4 overs.

Ley Hill secured a second straight win as they overcame Braywood by five wickets.

Richard Clarke (5-31) was the pick of the hosts’ attack as Braywood were bowled out for 188, Nasse Satti top scoring with 43 from 30 balls.

In reply, skipper Craig Peterson (116no from 82 balls) and Justin Hutchins (44) led the way as the home side got home in 29.1 overs.

A brilliant century from Abhi Gupta (119) guided Penn & Tylers Green to a thumping 140-run success at home to Welford Park.

He shared an opening stand of 183 with Raunak Biswas (82), and with Nick Francis adding an unbeaten 56, Penn declared on 282-2 after 48 overs.

Will Herrington struck 60 in Welford’s reply, but they were bowled out for 140 as Arup Vidyerthy took 5-39.

Chalfont St Giles took a major step towards winning the title after nearest rivals Harpsden conceded their game, with Crowthorne & Crown Wood also unable to raise a side for their game against West Reading.

  • EMMBROOK & Bearwood remain bottom of the Chilterns League Premier Division after suffering a nine-wicket home thrashing by Holmer Green.

The Bears were shot out for just 62, and the table-toppers raced home in only 10.3 overs.

In Division Three, Amersham Hill 2nds conceded their game with Emmbrook & Bearwood 2nds.
