SHERIDON Gumbs is being hailed as one of the most promising young players on the local cricket scene.

The 12-year-old Bradfield College pupil (pictured below) has already hit four centuries, three of them in consecutive games.

Sheridon, who learned much of his cricket in the nets at Reading CC when coached by his dad Wilson, blasted 101 from 49 balls to help Bradfield Under 14s post a huge 229-3 from 20 overs before Little Heath made 49-5.

The young big hitter then smashed 100 before retiring as his college (269-2 off 25 overs) outplayed Charterhouse, who were all out for 99.

In his next game, he contributed 108 of his team’s 228 against Cheltenham College U14s, who were then shot out for just 67.

And he followed up with an unbeaten on 107 in a Bradfield total of 218-3 before Wellington College replied with 111-4.

Sheridon has also made two appearances for Tring Park’s 1st XI, the current Home Counties Premier League leaders skippered by brother Shelvin.

Reading Chronicle:

Sheridon Gumbs is in sensational form.

  • READING City FC have only just come into existence, but the record books are going to show they were around last season.

The FA Full-Time website has been quick to delete Highmoor Ibis and insert Reading City.

So in years to come, historians will notice the Scours Lane club changed their name in June 2018, but their results will start from August 2017.

  • WOODLEY United’s new manager Jon Laugharne will be desperate to keep Idris Kamara at the club. The giant centre-back was one of the best players in the Hellenic League last season, despite his side’s relegation from the Premier Division.

I understand United received official approaches from at least five clubs and the player’s loyalty has to be highly commended, but will that continue for much longer?
