Bowls round-up.
BERKSHIRE ladies beat Kent 36-31 in the first round of the national Walker Cup.
The rink skipped by Barbara Smith with Helen Moore, Sue Goodchild and Morgan Merryweather won 21-16, while Beverley Wall with Judy Bacon, Pat Fowkes and Jane Murphy drew 15-15.
In the third game of the John’s Trophy – a six-rink competition – Berkshire beat Buckinghamshire 132-118.
Berkshire defeated Wiltshire 112-109 in a friendly. With one rink to bowl it was 109-109, but Gillian Chamberlain’s rink of Yvonne Randall, Mary Pinchin and Sheila Lee picked up three shots.
Top rink for Berkshire was skipped by Helen Simpson with Val Carter, club president Betty Reed and Josie Chippendale. They were plus 17 shots.
